Alone Video Campaign

“When we made this video we wanted to emphasize that everyone has one or many things that they deal with and even if you feel like its only you, you are not alone. We also wanted to make sure that everyone knows that it is always OK to ask for help.”

Stuck

“It’s important for people to know that it’s okay to be struggling and to express that struggle. Social media often portrays a world of unending happiness, obscuring the reality that everyone faces challenges. This video highlights the normalcy of feeling stuck and the hope that comes from shared experiences of overcoming adversity. I hope it encourages open conversations and reinforces the message that it’s okay not to be okay, and it’s okay to seek help. Acknowledging our struggles, rather than pretending everything is fine, is crucial for mental well-being and understanding that one day, things will make sense again.” – MaryKate, Dallas High School Student

Falute’s Story

“Bringing up suicide is essential for those feeling suicidal at this moment. It’s vital for them to know it’s okay to feel this way and to seek help. Suicide isn’t a joking matter. Asking someone if they feel suicidal, a question that might seem simple, can be life-saving. For those struggling, reaching out for help, whether it’s through a hotline or a trusted person, is crucial. Similarly, if you notice someone showing signs of suicidal thoughts, it’s important to act, offer support, and show you care, regardless of your relationship with them. Everyone should consider training in recognizing suicide signs and effective intervention methods. Understanding and communicating with those at risk can prevent the tragedy of losing someone due to a lack of understanding. It’s essential to remember that it’s okay not to be okay and seeking help is a step of courage. Asking for help, or about someone’s well-being, is a critical step in affirming that everyone’s life is important and they belong here.”

Roseanna’s Story

“For many of us, suicide is an uncomfortable topic. There is often a fear that talking about suicide might cause someone to take his/her life. This simply is not true. Talking about suicide does not increase the likelihood that it will happen. We need to increase awareness about suicide prevention, and we need more education.

No matter how bad life might seem, there is hope. Suicide can be prevented. You can make a difference. By taking just a small amount of time to learn about suicide prevention, you can participate in the little steps that can help people who are hurting get the services they need.”
